AIM SC Match Preview

Liquid Football plays AIM Michigan SC this Tuesday at Fordson High School. Liquid Football looks to right the ship after losing back-to-back games. The first to Inter Detroit 3-1 and the second to Detroit Union 2-1.

AIM has played two games and is 1-1-0 on the season. Last week they played defending champions, Inter Detroit. AIM lost 5-0.

Founded in 2012, AIM is a non-profit based in Michigan involved in multiple soccer leagues around southeast Michigan. They have several hundred youth and adult participants in various sports, mainly soccer.

AIM’s mission is “To provide extraordinary athletic youth activities and programs enabling underprivileged children’s personal and professional success.”

Last year they made it to the UPSL Midwest East conference semi-finals. Still, they lost 5-0 to eventual national quarterfinalists Detroit United. This year they expanded to their fifth league, the MWPL, along with other clubs such as Thundercats, Troy United, and Liquid Football.

AIM should have an excellent team filled with college and UPSL experience. However, in the offseason, they lost an essential piece of last year’s team, Mabrook Saleh, signed by NISA club Gold Star Detroit.

Many players from both teams had prior obligations Memorial Day weekend, so the game was rescheduled from Saturday, May 28th to Tuesday, May 30th, at Fordson High School. Kick-off will be at 8:00 p.m.
