Liquid Football 2023 Tryout Preview

After a year of planning, things are finally getting real for Liquid Football. The merch is in, social media content is picking up, and the open tryout for the inaugural season is right around the corner. The tryout is sold out. Over 60 players have signed up, including a few coming from out of state. The tryout is being held on Sunday, March 19th at 4 p.m. at the St. Joe’s Sports Dome located at Schoolcraft College and will be open to the public. Supporters are encouraged to come and watch the players as they fight for a spot on the club's roster.


With it being the club’s inaugural season, Liquid Football will be hoping to add players from the tryout to the first team. The team is coached by Javi Bautista. Bautista has a very long soccer resume, which includes a lot of both playing and coaching. Most notably playing and coaching at Detroit City FC.


“I know there’s a lot of talent in the Metro-Detroit area and beyond. We are trying to build a competitive roster right from the beginning and I believe these tryouts are a great opportunity to find players who match our intended playing style. We want players who can play an important role in building Liquid Football.” said Bautista.


Liquid Football is named after a style of play, which showcases a teams’ ability to move together in an organized and fluid manner. On top of that, Liquid Football’s motto is “Player Built, meaning the club provides the best experience possible for their players. Liquid Football is player-focused, with the on-field product taking a front seat.


Liquid Football plays in the Midwest Premier League (MWPL), which is considered the 5th tier of the US soccer pyramid. In the MWPL there are four conferences, one of which is the Great Lakes East. It includes Liquid Football and eight other Michigan based teams.


Their first home game is June 10th at University Liggett School in Grosse Pointe Woods at 6:45 p.m. Season tickets are available for purchase.
